Book

The Colonial Printer

by Lawrence C. Wroth

This is a full survey of one particular industry, which could only take foothold in the Colonies once basic survival trades could establish themselves. It explores the products a printing company provided, the raw materials that kept it going, the equipment and level of technology available, the dependence on Britain for supplies gradually supplanted by local foundries, the manpower positions, and who did well, who got rich, and who washed out.

My copy was published by Dover Books, and looks different from this cover image; it’s all the same book.
