Book

Reporting the Revolutionary War

Before It Was History, It Was News

by Todd Andrlik

This is one of my favorite books on the subject; it’s a shame it’s out of print.

It’s a big, visual book. Each chronological section deals with a major story that we’ve learned as having made history. On the last page of each section is an image of a newspaper of the time, with all the surrounding news of that day, and the relevant story highlighted. From acts of Congress to major battles, this is a first-hand look at the news as it happened.

This title makes me consider implementing a star-rating system; this one would get 5 out of 5.

(And yes, that’s ink smears along the edge of the cover. I thought I’d wrecked my copy from handling it during demos!)
